:: From the original brief ::

:: As we begin a new year, certainly for most people, expectations are high that this year will be different from last year. The word labels such optimism as "New Years Resolutions." The fact is it takes initiative to make a resolution to do things differently in a new year. It would be much easier to just do things as you have always done them in the past. So I applaud those who have the initiative to make resolutions to be different this year.

:: Also, I want you to know that those who make resolutions will have to make great investment, if the initiative is going to be successful. You cannot be different by just saying it's going to be different. James teaches us that you have to put feet to your faith, 2:14-18.

:: Finally, the fact is your life is about to become very intense as you attempt to carry out the initiative.

  - nlawson.com Note: This concept though initially researched was abandoned early due to focus shifting from design to filming with the expansion of Expression Pictures. -

:: The word initiative can be difficult to visualize. People can have an understanding of the word, but the visuals normally used for the word are vague (i.e. person confident or running). Without a clear explanation along with the image, the visual can lose it's true meaning or worse, take up another meaning on it's own. Therefore, I thought it best to add a small subtitle to this sermon series called "Make your Mark". This clearly defines the focus of the series as well as offers an ongoing challenge. Imagery for this subtitle can clearly be produced without loss of meaning. Also, since this concept is be ing used for the FAITH 2009 season, "Make your Mark" will be continued and expounded upon after the John 3:16 Initiative series has concluded. "Make your Mark" has the potential to become the church's motto for 2009 as well as be modified through the year (i.e. "Carry your Mark" "Finish your Mark").
